Babydoll
A
babydoll is a short nightgown or negligee, loose fitting,
and usually
comes with matching panties. It sometimes has formed
cups with an attached
loose fitting skirt falling in length usually between the
upper thigh and
the belly button. The baby doll is often trimmed with lace,
ruffles, bows
or ribbons and made of sheer or translucent fabric like
nylon, chiffon or
silk. The beauty of the baby doll set is the wide range of
styles that are
available today.
It is said the name was popularized by
the 1956 movie
“Babydoll”, starring, Carroll Baker, in the title role, which
essentially
marked the beginning of the enduring popularity of the
style for
adults.

Bodystocking
Is lingerie similar to
a cat suit or leotard. It is fitted lingerie from the neck to
the toes.
The bodystocking can have long, short or no sleeves,
sometimes footless
and often crotchless. It is made from a sheer fabric
similar to those used
for stockings and tights, or fishnet material.
Bodystockings are often
considered an erotic piece of lingerie.

Bustier
A bustier is form
fitting, strapless and reaches down to the ribs or waist. Its
primary
purpose is to push up the bust by tightening against the
upper midriff and
forcing the breasts to move up, while gently shaping the
waist. Modern
bustiers are often made with mesh panels rather than
boning. The bustier
is a multi-purpose garment which can be worn as lingerie
or evening
wear.

Bra
The bra or brassiere is
a piece of lingerie that is worn to help support and elevate
the woman’s
breasts. Woman wear bras for a variety of purposes, for
support, to
improve the shape of the breasts, or to enhance the
cleavage. There is a
wide range of brassiere styles available, designed to
match different body
types, situations, and outer garments. The degree of
shaping and coverage
of the breasts varies between styles, as do functionality,
fashion,

Demi Bra
Also known as
balconette bras, are a half-cup bra style with wide-set
straps and a
horizontal bust line. Often seamed or boned, they give
great cleavage and
a frame-like effect. These offer less support, but enable
low-cut garments
to be worn without the bra being seen. Demi bras may be
designed to
provide lift as do push-up
bras.

Front Closure Bra
Bras that have
closures, usually hooks and eyes, on the front rather than
at the back.
These bras lie completely flat at the back under
clothing. |

Strapless Bra
Strapless bras do not
have shoulder straps and are designed for wearing with
clothes that reveal
the shoulders, such as halterneck or tube style
tops. |

Underwire
Bra
Underwire bras are
designed to give extra support and endurance. They have
a wire (metal or
plastic) running under each cup to provide rigid support to
the
bust.
Adhesive
- a bra which adheres to the breasts; features
no straps or bands
of any sort and provide little support to the breasts. This
type of bra is
intended for backless and strapless fashions. There are
two types:
disposable paper ones that use a strong adhesive, and
the re-usable ones
that use silicone and can be washed and re-
used.
Cupless
bra - is a brassiere design composed
of a frame with no support cups, or a bra which exposes
the nipples with
notched or contoured support cups. Usually worn as erotic
lingerie, a
cupless bra can cause the shape of the nipples to be
prominently visible
on an outer
garment.

Camisole
A camisole or cami, is short,
sleeveless, and typically has thin spagetti straps. A
camisole normally
extends to the waist but is sometimes cropped to show
the midriff or
extended to just below the pelvic area. Camisoles come
in a variety of
fabrics such as, mesh, lace, silk and satin, or stretch
fabrics like
nylon, lycra or spandex. They can be worn as outerwear
alone or under a
blouse or jacket. Or of course, the
bedroom!

Chemise
A chemise is a woman’s
shirt-like undergarment, similar in shape to a straight
hanging sleeveless
dress.
The term chemise can
refer to the classic smock or shift, or else can refer to
certain modern
types of women's undergarments and dresses. In the
classical usage it is a
simple garment worn next to the skin to protect clothing
from sweat and
body oils.

Corsets
The most common and
well-known use of corsets is to slim the body and make it
conform to a
fashionable silhouette. For women this most frequently
emphasizes a curvy
figure, by reducing the waist and thereby exaggerating
the bust and hips.
In some periods,
corsets have been worn to achieve a tubular straight-up-
and-down shape,
which involves minimizing the bust and
hips. |

Hosiery
Hosiery or stockings,
are tight- fitting garments worn to cover the legs and feet.
Hosiery comes
in a variety of colors and styles such as, silk, nylon and
fishnet.
Hosiery can give the legs a silky appearance along with a
smooth and
unblemished look. Hosiery is typically worn with dresses
or skirts, but
can add the final touch to any lingerie ensemble or garter
belt .

Garterbelts
Garter Belts
& Leg Garters are used to hold up hosiery. Normally just
a few inches in width, features two or three garters attached
on each side, and worn around the
waist,. They are often made up of leather, lace or silk.
Pairing garter
belts and hosiery together in set is a great way to get
noticed by a
special someone.

Panties
Panties are a form of
underwear that come in many styles, fabrics and colors.
Depending on the
style, you can go from full coverage to none at all. With
so many
variations available today, you can find the look and feel
that gives you
the most comfort.
In the 1940”s
Frederick‘s of Hollywoood, opened shop in Hollywood and
began selling
lingerie with a much more fashionable appeal to them.
These new styles of
women's undergarments possessed a greater "sexual
feel".

Boyshorts
They are a relatively
new, but increasingly popular style of lingerie among
women and are named
for their similarity in looks to men’s knit boxer shorts,
which themselves
are a variation on traditional boxer
shorts. .
Boy shorts often cover
most of the buttocks area. Boyshorts are a popular choice
since most of
them may avoid displaying a prominent visible panty line
provided they
don’t ride up, and yet are a modest and comfortable
alternative to thongs
and conventional panties. They are also popularly
matched with a
camisoles. Cotton-spandex blends and lace are the most
popular materials
for boy
shorts.
The term boy shorts
can
also refer to bathing suit bottoms in the same
style.

| G-String
The G-string offers
virtually no rear coverage. Similar to the thong, which has
minimal fabric
in the back, the G-string has a narrow strip in the back
extending from
the crotch all the way to the waistband. The g-string is a
great for
having no panty lines.

Thong
The thong is
very similar to the g-string. The thong has a minimal amount
of fabric in the back and creates a ‘V’ shape at the waistband.
Having virtually no coverage will give you that smooth look
under any clothing.

Teddy
A teddy
combines the look of a camisole and panty, all in one piece. It
has the same appearance as a one piece bathing suit and
comes in a wide variety of styles, from simple styles with
plain materials to very fancy styles with beads, crystals or
sequins. Teddies also come in a variety of fabrics such as,
leather, vinyl, nylon and lace.
